Vigeo

Created in July 1997 by the Groupe des Caisses d'Épargne and the Caisse des Dépôts & Consignations, ARESE (Social and Environmental Company Rating Agency / Agence de Rating Social et Environnemental des Entreprises) was the first French social and environmental rating agency for European companies having developed a tool for investors who want to include sustainable development criteria.

It became Vigeo in June 2002, under the presidency of Nicole Notat.

Its main business is to rate companies on their integration of long-term social, environmental and community interests.
